Editorial: NEU Too warrants response from administration

Editorial: NEU Too warrants response from administration

The Editorial Board December 6, 2017
Northeastern University Police Department officers took down the posters that campaign members put up at midnight Nov. 30 long before classes began that day, so very few students got the chance to see them. Furthermore, the university neither commented to student publications regarding the campaign nor sent out an acknowledgement to any students. The dismissive attitude of the university toward student activism sends a clear, albeit implicit, message that the topic is not worth their time.

At Northeastern, student wellness just isn’t important to policy-makers. The school needs to admit that. Then changes need to be made.

Op-ed: Proposed tax reform is bad for Black Americans

November 30, 2017
Many government operatives, foundations, universities and corporate-sector leaders have aligned and seemingly conspired to destroy the progress made by black people over the past 152 years under the guise of tax reform. The proposed Tax Reform Plan will destroy Black America.

Editorial: We can do more to combat media illiteracy

The Editorial Board November 30, 2017
Not everyone will become part of the media and not everyone will respect the fields involved in creating media. Regardless, everyone will consume it. There should be systems in place to ensure that we consume news it in a way that is smart, productive and helps foster communication.

Editorial: Paradise Papers should be a catalyst for change

The Editorial Board November 16, 2017
It is unclear how much of the endowment is invested in EnCap or if the university currently has other offshore investments. These questions aren’t answered by the university’s statement. It is time the university takes seriously and openly addresses the requests of the activist groups on campus because, in the end, they were right about what the administration was hiding.

Column: For Democrats, wins in Virginia legislature are blueprint for the future

November 16, 2017
A little over a year ago today, the bottom fell out for the Democratic party. Donald J. Trump upset Hillary Clinton in the presidential election, and suddenly Republicans owned both the executive and the legislative branches of government. Plus, Trump’s election meant he could appoint a conservative Supreme Court justice to the bench, with potentially more appointments on the horizon. The Democrats weren’t in the driver’s seat anymore. They were barely in the car.

Op-ed: We will not be silenced

As students arrived to Hillel for the event, other students who were part of the Students for Justice in Palestine, or SJP,  group at Northeastern were protesting the event outside of the building . These individuals do not believe that Israel should exist and defend itself. While they have every right to have an opinion and make their voice heard, they did this in a very disrespectful way.
