It is not an issue that adults expect the next generation to have an organized plan for their life, but it has reached the level where it is part of our culture to judge groups of people based on their college major. Even more concerning is the influence that our salary-obsessed society has on where money is allocated within schools and universities.

Northeastern University Police Department officers took down the posters that campaign members put up at midnight Nov. 30 long before classes began that day, so very few students got the chance to see them. Furthermore, the university neither commented to student publications regarding the campaign nor sent out an acknowledgement to any students. The dismissive attitude of the university toward student activism sends a clear, albeit implicit, message that the topic is not worth their time.

Not everyone will become part of the media and not everyone will respect the fields involved in creating media. Regardless, everyone will consume it. There should be systems in place to ensure that we consume news it in a way that is smart, productive and helps foster communication.

Editorial: Paradise Papers should be a catalyst for change

It is unclear how much of the endowment is invested in EnCap or if the university currently has other offshore investments. These questions aren’t answered by the university’s statement. It is time the university takes seriously and openly addresses the requests of the activist groups on campus because, in the end, they were right about what the administration was hiding.

Editorial: Students want an end to the “NU Shuffle”

The “NU Shuffle” refers to the experience students go through when they go to one advisor or department for help with a problem and are referred to another office that will often give another referral and another after that until the situation is resolved. The multistep process can be time consuming and often ends in students feeling more upset than they did when the problem initially arose.
