Joe Goldberg claims “The Passion of The Christ” is not an anti-Semitic movie just like I stated (“‘The Passion pro-Jesus, not Anti-Semitic,’ March 10), yet he effortlessly calls me ignorant and insensitive because I do not want any group bullying others into not seeing this movie or any other movie (“‘The Passion’ commentary offensive,” March 17).
I am accusing Goldberg of being the bully that I described in my original Letter to the Editor. Moreover, I am proud of my original statements about this outstanding film and may see it again. Sadly, Goldberg uses the hackneyed “this person is ignorant because I disagree with his opinion” approach into discrediting my deep enjoyment of the film. In addition, Goldberg tries to monopolize the Holocaust tragedy as only impacting his ancestors by excluding the gypsies, mentally retarded, gays, communists, political dissenters and others exterminated in Europe.
Anyone claiming this movie is anti-Semitic is as ludicrous as me claiming the next Holocaust movie, television series, play, book, lecture or college course on the subject is anti-German or anti-Roman Catholic. Also, I saw the classic movie to understand better what Jesus Christ experienced hours before and up to his murder on the cross and not to blame any group for its cause. Since I have seen the movie and Goldberg hasn’t or won’t, let me share with him that Mel Gibson’s fantastic movie doesn’t blame any group for the murder of Jesus Christ.
