For the second year in a row the West Village Complex has been voted “Best Upperclassmen Residence Hall” in the “Best of NU” poll.
Since the mini-community was built in 1996 there have been several new editions, and a few more to follow. In 2000 West E was added, also the home of the massive Behrakis Health and Sciences building. One thing unique about West Village is the fact that studio apartments are an option for students who have privacy high up on their list of housing needs.
In the fall of 2004 West Village G and H will open its doors to students. Building H will have restrictions allowing only students who are 21-plus to live in the building.
The competition didn’t fair well against West Village. West took more than half of the vote with Davenport A and B coming in second at a mere nine percent. Although there have been strives to making Davenport residences feel closer to campus by putting a gym named SquashBusters on Columbus Avenue Davenport is still located quite far from most academic buildings.
Leased properties like Hemenway Street came in third, while Willis came in last.
It’s apparent West Village cannot be beat, and with two new buildings going up within the next year, it’s quite possible it will once again be undefeated.
