Halloween fun doesn’t necessarily stop when trick-or-treating seems lame. If college students feel they’re too old to go door-to-door, dressing up can still be as fun as it was when Barney the Dinosaur was viewed as an acceptable role model. There’s plenty of spook-tacular stuff to do in the city on Oct. 31, some of which are listed here.
Dressing the part
…..Dorothy’s Boutique
Located a few minutes from campus (190 Massachusetts Ave.), Dorothy’s provides a seemingly endless expanse of costumes at a nearby location. The comprehensive costume collection provides enough options for any Halloween event. Classic costumes include the slutty nurse ($32.99) and classic horror movie villain Freddy Krueger ($20.99). John Diamond, the owner of the store, said the most popular costumes this year include school girl outfits and Army girls, and Batman and gangster costumes for males. The store also features the half-naked policeman ($59.99), beer can ($51.99) and Bohemian go-go outfit ($38.99).

Although it’s a few train rides away (200 Broadway in Cambridge, red line to Kendell/MIT, walk four blocks) the Garment District is a multi-story thrift store with a literal pile of clothing to paw through.
