The Council for University Programs (CUP) has had a shaky past with its annual Springfest concert. Audiences left last year’s Jimmy Eat World/Guster show in droves halfway through and, predictably, their ticket purchasing system didn’t function correctly. But this year was different.
CUP started with a campus-wide survey to find out exactly what kind of artists students would want to see. And yes, the results brought us an rapper/actor who previously starred on a poorly-written Canadian teen drama, but CUP obviously catered to what the majority of students wanted, and that’s all we can ask of them.
And when it came time to purchase tickets for the big show, surprise! The ticketing system worked. Tickets sold out within an hour, without a hitch. The show? No major complaints.
In fact, Springfest – the whole week – was satisfactory (Except for the theme. Why not save NUpocalypse for Springfest 2012?). We’re raising our glass to you, CUP.
