I certainly agree with your editorial of 3/16/05! Not only does it seem that Mr. O’Brien, the athletic director overreacted, it seems, to this alumna anyway, that he gave no thought to how this suspension could impact on this young man’s future in basketball after all of his hard work for the NU basketball team. Not exactly a way to engender support for NU athletics from future recruits, from the students whom you are trying to get more interested in supporting their teams or from the alumni. Since when are decisions made without all sides being allowed to present their side of the story? If the alleged infraction was actually committed, wouldn’t the referees have meted out punishment at the time?
