Jerry Remy’s Sports Bar and Grill will host the first taping of a new sports and comedy show, called The Beer 30 Show, in front of a live audience Monday, Jan. 24. Boston comedian Graig Murphy, who competed against 150 other upcoming television talent from all over the country, will be the co-host alongside ESPN Dallas personality RJ Choppy. The audience will witness the taping of the in-studio portion of the show, featuring Murphy and Choppy. Before the taping starts, Boston comedian Jimmy Dunn will perform a half-hour comedy routine for the crowd. The show will be broadcasted on 144 channels in 130 U.S. markets, which will reach over 94 million households. Oscar-winning singer and songwriter Jorge Drexler will perform in the 2011 Berklee College of Music Signature Concert Series. Drexler works to foster an appreciation for world music with the style and rhythm of his native country, Uruguay. He has recorded with Shakira, Mercedes Sosa, Maria Rita and Victor Manuel, and his albums have been awarded a total of seven Grammy and Latin Grammy nominations. By the end of the week, stress levels can be high. There’s no better way to end the week than with a meditation session focused on laughter. These guided, half-hour, weekly sessions are held in the Sacred Space and are open on a walk-in basis. Dance the night away in fashion. The Om Lounge’s grand opening of In-Fashion Fridays, which will feature complimentary hours d’oeurves, chill-out house lounge music and live saxophone tunes is tonight. Symphony Sushi and Pho and I are a favorite of many Northeastern students. Although it’s still January, there is never a bad time to enjoy some ice cream. Head to J.P. Licks, which is only a short walk or T ride away from campus, to take a glimpse at a nine-month journey through the Himalayas Don Perrault re-created with his photographs. The photographs, which focus on Tibet, will be available for sale as well. The Department of Art + Design at Northeastern is hosting artist Beatrix Reinhardt to speak about her life as an international photographer. Reinhardt’s work has been on display in North America, Europe, Australia and Asia.
