Eighteen college students were arrested by Boston Police Department (BPD) officials in Mission Hill party calls between May 14 and Aug. 2, according to a Citizen Observer e-mail sent Friday, which showed police responded to 23 residences during that time, also resulting in three summons and 16 civil citations. BPD, District Attorney and Northeastern Division of Public Safety could not immediately identify the names of the students, or how many of them were from Northeastern.

SGA introduces enhanced website
The Student Government Association (SGA) launched its new website Monday as part of ‘continuing efforts to improve communication’ with students, according to an announcement on the site. The site, www.sga.neu.edu, features profiles of SGA executive board members, governing documents, information on committees and a feedback section where students can submit suggestions and vote on each others’ ideas. According to the announcement, the feedback will be a ‘powerful new tool that will allow [SGA] to accurately represent the Student Body to the Administration.’ SGA President Ryan Fox will also be maintaining a blog on the site reporting on day-to-day operations within the organization.

RSA to host ‘Surf N’ Turf’ in West Village Quad
The Resident Student Association (RSA) is hosting an ‘End of Summer Surf N’ Turf’ Thursday night from 7 to 9 p.m in the West Village Quad, according to an announcement on the RSA blog, NortheasternRSA.blogspot.com. The event, which is free for all students, will feature games, music, fried seafood and a barbecue.

Students begin migration to G-apps today
Undergraduate, graduate, and College of Professional Studies students will be able to access an online toolset powered by Google starting today, according to the Information Services (IS) and Resident Student Association (RSA) websites. G-apps will include HuskyMail, Calendar, Documents & Spreadsheets and Mobile Services, according to IS. E-mail suffixes will change from @neu.edu to @husky.neu.edu, but the former will automatically forward to the latter until December 2011, according to RSA. In order to use G-apps, students must complete steps on the ‘G-apps Migration’ tab within the myNEU portal or have their myNEU account created after today in order to use the program.

Former assistant appointed new OSCCR director
Following former Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution (OSCCR) Director Valerie Randall-Lee’s appointment as associate dean for student development this summer, former assistant director Colleen Ryan was promoted to fill her spot, said Student Government Association (SGA) Vice President for Student Affairs Derek Miller and Vice President of Marketing and Communications Mike Armini. Ryan steps into the role after an attempt during the spring semester by students within SGA to introduce a new Student Bill of Rights, which intended to outline students’ rights in the case that are called before an OSCCR hearing for violating its Code of Conduct. The Bill of Rights did not pass during the spring, but members of SGA said then that they would continue to work with OSCCR on passing a similar document. Ryan was unable to comment yesterday. Miller declined to comment, citing SGA’s media policy.
