At approximately 10 a.m. Wednesday morning, a manhole fire caused an explosion on St. Stephen Street. The smell of burning rubber filled the area as Boston Police and Fire departments responded to the incident. Northeastern University police also responded. Surrounding blocks were closed off and students were asked to avoid the area.
