The men’s and women’s track teams took home five individual wins while participating in the Harvard Open Dec. 12.
Three women finished first in an event for the Huskies – sophomore Porshe Giddings won the 400-meter with a time of 57.30 seconds, freshman Christina Izzicupo won the 800-meter with a 2:19.25 showing and sophomore Althea Charles placed first in the championship section of the weight throw with a throw of 50-feet-0.75-inches.
In the men’s competitor, junior Nate Hunter won the championship shot put with a throw of 59-feet-9.25-inches, ranking him fifth on the all-time indoor list at Northeastern. Sophomore Alex Iannetta’s throw of 53-feet-0.5-inches in the open weight throw was also good enough to place first.
Other notable finishes for the Huskies at the event included senior Olivia Kalinowska’s fourth-place finish in the pole vault for the women, who were competing with a partial squad. For the men, senior Bamidele Faboyede finished fourth in the championship weight throw, junior Adrian Li finished second in the high jump and sophomore Pablo Rodriguez took fourth in the pole vault.
