Police arrested a suspect in the stabbing near East Village Wednesday morning in the area of Huntington Avenue, officials announced Wednesday evening.
The investigation update from the Boston Police Department, or BPD, said officers worked with the Northeastern University Police Department to locate the suspect using video footage. The 316 Huntington Ave. building houses the YMCA, as well as Hastings Hall.
The investigation update stated the initial incident occurred outside of 291 Huntington Ave., but the victim was located on St. Botolph Street, where East Village is located.
The suspect is expected to be arraigned for assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in Boston Municipal Court.

Police responded to a report of a person stabbed near Northeastern’s East Village Residence Hall around 8:19 a.m. Wednesday morning, according to the Boston Police Department, or BPD.
Boston Police responded to 219 Saint Bolotoph St. at approximately 8:19 a.m., and the victim was taken to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Officer Michael Torigian of the Boston Police Department’s Office of Media Relations. The Northeastern University Police Department, or NUPD, sent out an NU Alert, a email sent through the university’s emergency notification system, at 9:04 a.m. Wednesday, reporting police activity at East Village.
“At approximately 8:15 am this morning, an assault took place near the corner of Huntington Avenue and Gainsborough Street,” Renata Nyul, vice president for communications at Northeastern, said in a statement to The Huntington News. “A person who is not affiliated with Northeastern was injured in the incident and entered a Northeastern building where NUPD rendered aid. Although the incident did not take place on Northeastern’s campus, the university alerted its community to avoid the area while BPD and NUPD were responding. BPD is searching for the suspect who fled the area. The building has fully reopened.”
No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains active. This is the second report of an assault nearby since Friday night, when a student was allegedly assaulted outside Marino Recreation Center.
At 10:15 a.m., NUPD sent a follow up NU Alert notifying the community that police cleared the scene. NUPD sent a Timely Warning notification at 11:06 a.m. including the above statement.
Seneca Weiss, a first-year criminology and criminal justice combined major and resident of East Village, or EV, said she woke up to an email alert about police activity at the residence hall.
“I don’t feel safe in East Village,” she said.
Weiss said that after the incident at Marino Recreation Center March 27, she has felt less safe on campus.
“I feel like I always think of EV as really safe, but ever since the Marino incident, I feel like we’ve already been on edge, and now this is happening in my own dorm,” she said.
