Four Northeastern baseball players launched their careers to the professional level after the 2026 MLB Draft July 11 and 12.
Senior right-handed pitcher Luc Rising went first, being selected by the Los Angeles Angels as the 289th overall pick in the 10th round. A transfer from Rochester Institute of Technology, he posted a 3.54 ERA, allowed 38 runs and struck out 84 batters in 81.1 innings pitched.
With the 596th pick in the 20th round, the Arizona Diamondbacks picked graduate student right-hander Andrew Wertz, who was a standout in relief for the Huskies. Wertz allowed 13 runs across 37.2 innings, recording a 2.63 ERA in the 2026 season. He appeared in all four games of the Huskies’ CAA tournament title defense and earned Most Outstanding Player of the tournament.
Despite not being drafted, junior outfielder Ryan Gerety is headed west after signing a free agent contract with the San Diego Padres. In his 141 games for Northeastern, he notched 153 hits for 122 runs, 75 RBIs and 10 home runs.
Redshirt senior outfielder Harrison Feinberg entered the 2026 season on many preseason watchlists and after not being selected in the draft, he signed as a free agent with the Chicago Cubs. Feinberg has been a standout player in his four seasons with the team, rounding out his college career with a .314 batting average, 209 hits and a program-record 47 home runs.
This is the fifth-straight year in which a Husky has been selected in the draft. The selections come shortly after former Husky Ben Malgieri made his MLB debut with the Detroit Tigers, signaling a growing Northeastern presence in the major leagues.
