The Northeastern men’s hockey team lost five players to the transfer portal the first day it opened April 13.
Freshman defenseman Dylan Compton, sophomore forward Griffin Erdman, sophomore defenseman Jack Henry, sophomore forward James Fisher and sophomore goaltender Quentin Sigurdson all entered the portal.
Compton committed to University of Wisconsin, according to the Grand Folks Herald. The Victoria, British Columbia native played in 36 games this past season, scoring four goals and collecting six assists. He also notched 28 blocks, tying him for sixth on the team.
Erdman played in 73 games in two seasons as a Husky. Overall, he netted seven goals, 11 assists and notched 40 blocks. The forward took on 15 faceoffs this past season, winning four.
Henry also wore the Husky sweater for two seasons. The Skaneateles, N.Y. native played in 66 games, scoring a goal, notching six assists and collecting 51 blocks.
Sigurdson came to Northeastern as a freshman serving as a backup goalie to Cameron Whitehead before Northeastern picked up first-line transfer portal addition junior Lawton Zacher. In two years, Sigurdson played in 10 games, collecting a .920 save percentage with his 208 saves.
Aside from these losses in the portal, the team lost four seniors, including captain defenseman Vinny Borgesi, who signed with the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Huskies also have a gap to fill with the loss of junior forward Dylan Hryckowian, who signed to the Dallas Stars March 20. The portal will remain open until April 28.
