You know, it’s really kind of funny. No, I take that back … it’s actually pretty pathetic. Think about it; you work so hard for so long, gradually improving until you reach the top of your field, only to see your date with destiny thwarted. Not only that, your own people, those that are supposed to be a reflection of your determination, vote you as your university’s worst team, all after posting arguably the greatest season in the program’s history. But you see, it’s not about that; yet it is … at the exact same time. This summer, Street and Smith magazine placed Northeastern’s football team at the top of the NCAA I-AA polls. The Sports Network, the unofficial bible of everything that is I-AA football, puts the Huskies at the sixth spot. Prognosticators have Northeastern finishing at the top of the Atlantic-10. Everything seems great; the team walks around and receives long overdue praise and well wishes.
