The Northeastern University women’s track team won its first dual meet of the season Saturday, downing crosstown foe Harvard, 71-55, at Gordon Track in Allston. Northeastern carried 10 of the 15 events, including junior Laura Chmielewski’s indoor school record in the pole vault, set at 12-7.
Chmielewski won the event, while fellow juniors Courtney MacLaren and Jenn Curato took third and fourth, respectively.
Sophomore captain Ahndraea Allen, who holds the indoor school record in the 400, won the 200 with a time of 24.98 and the 400 with an impressive 55.64 seconds. In the 200, Allen took first by just .03, while her victory in the 400 was by a ridiculous five seconds.
Fellow sprinting sensation Jordine Kimbrel, an NU indoor record holder in the 60-meter dash and the 200, placed first in the 60 (7.66 seconds) and second in the 200 (25.01).
NU transfer Aquilla Williams-Judge continued her impressive rookie campaign with a victory in the 60-meter hurdles by nearly three tenths of a second, and a triumph in the long jump as well (18-6).
Other Northeastern victories included Janel Kozlowski in the high jump (5-7.25), Tina Ibraheem in the triple jump (36-2.5), junior Zara Northover in the shot put (49-5), and the 4×400 relay squad.
Next Sunday, Northeastern heads to New York City for the Great Dane Classic. The Huskies finished first by nearly 50 points against teams like Temple, New Hampshire and the University of Albany last year. NU won 11 of the 17 events at last year’s meet. The meet will begin at 3 p.m.
On Jan. 28, coach Sherman Hart and the gang will host the annual Husky Invitation at the Reggie Lewis Track and Field Center in Roxbury, starting at 4:30 p.m.
