Northeastern hosted its first-ever Fall Fest World today to introduce all of the different student organizations offered on campus. Due to COVID-19 concerns, the university decided to move the traditionally in-person event to a video game-like format, where students roam around as a husky character to various booths to get information on clubs.
Like most years’ Convocation speeches, the university’s presentation focused primarily on experiential learning opportunities and the benefits of being a part of the Northeastern community as speakers described what incoming students have to look forward to. While the ceremony was entirely virtual due to COVID-19, there were minimal mentions of the pandemic, except for President Joseph E. Aoun’s closing remarks emphasizing the importance of safety and wellness of the community.
Around 8,000 students are moving to campus over the course of 10 days. In an effort to decrease density during move-in, different residence halls were assigned two to five day blocks of time for move-in between Aug. 29 and Sept. 7.
