George Barker is a third-year journalism and computer science major who was Campus Editor in fall of 2020, and the Deputy Sports Editor then Sports Editor in the fall of 2019 and spring of 2020, respectively. George is the women’s hockey beat reporter, and started covering that team while working as the Deputy Sports Editor. George hopes to continue to build on relationships with women’s hockey coaching and media staff members to bring comprehensive coverage of their season and aspirations, and you can follow him on Twitter @georgebarker36 to see his coverage.

Virtual convocation focuses on experiential learning, touches on community safety

Like most years’ Convocation speeches, the university’s presentation focused primarily on experiential learning opportunities and the benefits of being a part of the Northeastern community as speakers described what incoming students have to look forward to. While the ceremony was entirely virtual due to COVID-19, there were minimal mentions of the pandemic, except for President Joseph E. Aoun’s closing remarks emphasizing the importance of safety and wellness of the community.

Women’s hockey continued to dominate at Matthews Arena Sunday, as the Huskies bested the visiting UNH Wildcats 4-1 in their home opener off the back of two goals from sophomore forward Chloe Aurard and a ridiculous 49 shots on net.
