Artists turn business savvy at Made in Fort Point

In a brick-walled, quaint studio full of ceramics decorated with architectural drawings, artist Nicole Aquillano gently wiped newly glazed mugs as her 8-year-old cat, Luna, licked her paws at her side. The glazed ceramics, inspired by her childhood home in Pittsburgh, are ready to be showcased and sold at Made in Fort Point, a store located a ten minute walk away from Broadway Station.

Nearly five months have passed since the April 15 Boston Marathon bombings and the subsequent manhunt and shutdown of an entire city. This past weekend, a new flood of students moved into Northeastern who were receiving acceptance letters and putting down deposits at the time of the attacks. Older students, most of whom left in a time of chaos, are now returning to the city.

Mayoral race heats up in rush to succeed Menino

Stepping down after the longest mayoral stint in Boston history, Mayor Thomas M. Menino opened the floodgates of the 2013 election in March of this year. In the months following Menino’s retirement announcement, 12 candidates jumped into the race for mayor.

BREAKING: Shelter in place order in the city of Boston

The city of Boston and much of the surrounding area is under a "shelter in place" declaration as police continue an "ongoing manhunt for a person wanted in connection with Monday’s Marathon bombings," the state website said. All students and staff should stay in doors. Be sure to keep doors locked and stay away from windows to stay safe. The university will remain closed, all campus events are cancelled, and meal service will be provided to students living in residence halls without a dining hall. Significant progress made in bomb investigation; no one in custody, says FBI

Authorities investigating the devastating Boston Marathon bombing have made significant progress in identifying the person or persons responsible for the attack, although reports that a suspect was in custody Wednesday were premature, a city official told The News.

Northeastern donates to repair a beleaguered Little League field

A light rain pattered down on the McLaughlin Playground field Wednesday night, turning the baseball diamond’s dusty infield the dark brown of a well-worn mitt. At this time last year, a drizzle like this would have had Paul Spirn and his fellow Mission Hill Little League (MHLL) coaches scrambling to break out the bilge pumps.

Extended hours for the T seem distant, but higher fares may be coming soon

Although Massachusetts House and Senate leaders revealing their new transportation plan on Tuesday, experts say getting on the T after 12:35 a.m. on weekends still seems to be a distant dream for Boston late-night workers and bar crawlers. The new proposal plans to collect a $500 million fund for public transportation, which is only half of what Governor Deval Patrick originally requested in his 21st Century Transportation Plan released January.
