From Tony Award-nominated director Leigh Silverman and Emmy-nominated choreographer Sonya Tayeh comes “An Audience with Meow Meow.” The musical stars Meow Meow, the stage persona of real-life cabaret star Melissa Madden Gray who calls audience members to the stage as she stumbles through planned wrong entrances, wardrobe malfunctions and other technical difficulties. Gray boasts show credits from around the globe and has collaborated with the likes of David Bowie. Meow Meow will premiere her talents at Emerson College’s Cutler Majestic Theatre and will be playing until Oct. 24. 219 Tremont St.; 8 p.m.; $10 - $65.

Doughnut aficionados of the Northeast will find their niche in Back Bay this weekend when Post 390 hosts the second annual Rise and Rumble Donut Throwdown. Chefs hailing from the Boston and New York areas will whip up their most creative versions of glazed goodness for a chance to be voted best doughnut by guests. Kenmore Square chef Lauren Kroesser from Island Creek Oyster Bar took home the title last year with a jelly-filled, hazelnut-topped doughnut. With Boston Calling still a week away, those in need of a concert fix may find themselves heading to the Hatch Shell on Saturday. Rain or shine, Mixfest will bring together five musical artists for this annual event. Headliner Rob Thomas will be joined by “Riptide” singer Vance Joy, Third Eye Blind, Andy Grammar and Rachel Platten, voice of the chart-topper “Fight Song.” Gates open at 11 a.m., and a suggestion page about the event on the Mix 104.1 website advised listeners to arrive early, as the area tends to fill up fast. 47 David G Mugar Way; 2 p.m.; free.

The hometown heroes of Boston return for their first home game of the season this week. In an interleague match-up,the Red Sox will play the Washington Nationals. For the price of one beer ($2.50), you can eat as many hot dogs as you want while viewing the game on TV. Think you’re too old for an Easter egg hunt? Think again. Faneuil Hall Marketplace will host its second Annual Easter egg hunt this weekend for all ages. The eggs will mostly be filled with candy, but a select few will feature free item coupons for participating marketplace shops. Meet in the Upper Rotunda at Quincy Market to get your clue sheet and coupons from stores around the area before dashing around the center in search of Easter spirit. It’s the last free Friday at the Mugar Omni Theater in the Museum of Science. There are films starting on the hour, every hour, between noon and 5 p.m. with three shows playing at different times. Show options include: Galapagos, an exploration of the Galapagos Islands with marine biologist Dr. Carole Baldwin; Mystery of the Maya, a journey through Mayan culture and history; and Humpback Whales, an in-depth portrayal of the whales and how they communicate and survive in the seas from Alaska to Hawaii. The Greater New England Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis (MS) Society will host its sixth annual stair climb fundraiser. Climb to the Top Boston challenges over 500 participants to make it from floor one to floor 61 of New England’s tallest building, the John Hancock Tower, to raise funds and advocate for a world free of MS. The event offers multiple levels so people with a range of athletic abilities can participate. Entry of the Week: Sunday, March 1
Although it officially started on Feb. 19, don’t forget to usher in the Year of the Goat with a Lunar New Year celebration of seismic proportions. The Chinese New Year parade in Chinatown will feature lion dances with dancers operating in giant, ornate costumes, drums and fireworks. The parade, comprised of multiple processions, will start at the Chinatown Gate on Beach Street and continue throughout the streets of Chinatown with each procession taking a different path. Be sure to end your celebration by grabbing dim sum at Boston’s famous China Pearl restaurant at 9 Tyler Street. 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.; free.
