Entry of the Week: Monday, Feb. 23 Want to add a little fright to your Monday night? The historic Coolidge Corner Theatre is hosting a Science on Screen night with the film “Evil Dead II.” The 1987 sequel to Sam Raimi’s “Evil Dead” is sure to thrill horror-lovers with its special-effect makeup, which aids in particularly gory scenes like when Natalie puts a nail gun to her head. Before the film, Steven Schlozman, MD, an assistant professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School, will speak about why humans have an affinity for scary movies. 290 Harvard Street, Brookline; 7 - 9:30 p.m.; $9.25.

Event of The Week: Wednesday, Feb. 18 Alternative rock band KONGOS will make the Boston stop of its Lunatic Tour at House of Blues this Wednesday with special guest Sir Sly. The band hails from South Africa and consists of four brothers: Dylan, Daniel, Jesse and Johnny Kongos. The song “Come with Me Now,” off its sophomore album “Lunatic,” has been gaining popularity due to its presence on the “Expendables 3” soundtrack, as well as in network promos for “The Originals,” “Hemlock Grove,” and NBC Sports. Event of The Week: Thursday, Feb. 5 Even if you haven’t heard the name Joshua Radin, it’s likely you’ve heard his music. The singer-songwriter made noise with his 2008 hit “I’d Rather Be With You” off of his second studio album “Simple Times.” Known for his raw, folky sound and meditative lyrics, Radin’s songs have been featured in over 100 movies and television shows including “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Scrubs,” “One Tree Hill” and “American Idol.” This Thursday, Radin will perform songs from his latest album “Onwards and Sideways,” which was self-released Jan. 6, at the Wilbur Theatre. Event of The Week: Monday, Jan. 26 Breakout star of the hit Netflix original series “Orange is the New Black” Laverne Cox is coming to campus. The actress, who portrays Sophia Burset on the show, has been praised for her poignant and multi-dimensional portrayal of an incarcerated transgender woman. Also a television producer and LGBT advocate, Cox is also the first openly transgender person to ever be nominated for an emmy. The nominaion was for outstanding guest actress in a comedy series. In June of last year, she became the first openly transgender person to appear on the cover of Time magazine for an interview on her career and involvement in the transgender movement. Walsh for the evening’s festivities, which will include visits from Chaley Rose of ABC’s “Nashville,” NBC’s “The Voice” contestant Brittany Butler, the New England Patriots Cheerleaders, Nova Scotia band The Stanfields, the Floorlords dance troupe and surprise acts announced at the event. The official Christmas tree, delivered to Boston from Nova Scotia, as well as many other trees throughout the common will be lit at the event. Entry of the Week: Sunday, Nov. 23 Although the Ebola scare in the US has mostly calmed down, you can still help raise money to aid countries that are not so lucky. Northeastern’s Institute on Urban Health Research and Practice will host Dodge Ebola, a fundraising dodgeball tournament with proceeds benefitting Doctors without Borders. Teams consisting of three to five Northeastern students, faculty or staff can sign up with a minimum donation of $5. Both the team that wins the tournament and the team with the most spirit will win a prize. If you don’t want to play, you can still come watch and support the cause, with a suggested donation of $5. Entry of the Week: Monday, Nov. 17 Enjoy a free visit to the newly renovated Harvard Art Museum, which is reopening after its 2008 closure. This Monday and Tuesday, the museum is opening its doors free of charge to the public. New galleries include paintings, sculptures, ceramics, drawings and photographs from all around the world, and masterpieces from the Fogg, Busch-Reisinger and Arthur M. Sackler collections. PostSecret, a community mail project, allows people to anonymously share secrets with Warren, who publishes a few of the secrets on his blog PostSecret.com, every Sunday. The project supports suicide prevention and awareness efforts, and is an attempt to spread the message that no one is ever really alone with their secrets. His presentation will include a discussion of his book and a chance for members of the audience to share their own stories. Entry of The Week: Saturday, Nov. 1 Experience the mystery and intrigue of “Dracula” at a midnight showing of one of the earliest film renditions of Bram Stoker’s famed novel. This Saturday night, the Coolidge Corner Theatre will screen the 1931 film starring Bela Lugosi and directed by Tod Browning. It tells the story of Count Dracula’s move from Transylvania to England where he preys upon an innocent young girl named Mina (Helen Chandler). While not particularly scary by today’s special effects standards, the film is a classic example of early Hollywood horror and has influenced many adaptations since. 290 Harvard St., Brookline; 11:59 p.m.; $10.25.

A new echomusical adaptation of Lewis Carroll’s classic story is opening at the Wheelock Theatre, in which Alice goes down an entirely different rabbit hole. In this satirical coming-of-age fantasy, Alice must navigate a world filled with grown-up social activities. While the story is an update on the original, the plot still includes famous scenes like the tea party and croquet match.
