Bastille Day marks the start of the French Revolution and the origin of modern France. Harvard Square hosted a block party in its honor on July 11 where revelers -- some French, but mostly not -- had the opportunity to celebrate.
Passion Pit may seem like a household name among college students today, but just a few years ago, the members of the band known for songs like “Sleepyhead” and “Little Secrets” were college students in Boston themselves. Four of the five members are graduates of the Berklee College of Music: Ayad Al Adhamy (synthesizer), Jeff Apruzzese (bass/synth bass), Ian Hultquist (guitar/keyboards) and Nate Donmoyer (drums). The lead singer and keyboardist, Michael Angelakos, attended Emerson College. Passion Pit’s hallmark is electronic pop music with organs, guitars, and piano added in.

Art isn’t just for galleries anymore. Mountain Dew’s Green Label Art campaign has been creating limited edition works of art on bottles and cans since 2007, and last week in Boston, the company announced that this year they’re adding something new.

The Dew Tour made its way to Boston’s TD Garden June 25, where Mountain Dew’s signature professional skateboarder, Paul “P-Rod” Rodriguez, competed and made a special announcement.

The upstate New York music festival Mountain Jam isn’t exactly Woodstock — but it’s getting close.
Just a few miles away from the location of Woodstock, the quintessential music festival, Mountain Jam carried an eerily similar vibe from June 4 to 6. Now in its sixth year, the music festival made leaps and bounds with its jam-band heavy, hipster-friendly lineup. And while the festival doesn’t have the name recognition of some of its contemporaries, it's still a major draw, and many made the trip to attend the three-day event.
