CARBONDALE, Ill. – Chaisson Allen sat on the Northeastern bench with a look of disgust on his face. The senior captain and guard just picked up his fourth foul with about 17 minutes to go in the men’s basketball team’s Tuesday morning contest at Southern Illinois, putting him one foul away from disqualification.

The men’s basketball team is beginning a season without many expectations from spectators. Most Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) media don’t expect the Huskies to challenge for a first-round bye in the CAA Tournament.

Despite coming off a 20-win season and an appearance in the National Invitational Tournament, the men’s basketball team enters this season with a lingering question: Who will replace Matt Janning?
