Last Sunday, the Student Government Association (SGA) launched a new project, the mission of which can be summed up by its tagline: “It’s your money, tell us how you want to see it spent on and around campus.” At the time of press, more than 750 people “liked” the Facebook page, titled “Having a Say in How Northeastern Tuition and Fees Are Spent.” SGA President Ryan Fox said he conceived the idea for this forum, where students have the opportunity to share their concerns and suggest changes they would like to see happen on campus.
Both Student Government Association (SGA) Presidential Candidate Amanda Sabia and current Vice President for Student Affairs Derek Miller have declined to seek a position on next year’s SGA executive board after President Ryan Fox’s re-election Thursday. Miller, who supported Sabia for president, said minutes after the election result was announced he would not seek a position. He said part of the reason he did not seek re-election was his working relationship with Fox.
Several Student Government Association (SGA) senators sought to impeach and censure – the senate’s way of officially chastising a senator – Vice President for Administration and Public Relations Tim Siclari at their senate meeting Monday after an e-mail showing bias toward Presidential Candidate Amanda Sabia’s campaign was made public.
Voting for Student Government Association (SGA) began today on myNEU portal after current President Ryan Fox and Vice President for Academic Affairs Amanda Sabia were nominated to run for the position March 13. The pair has actively campaigned since accepting nominations, they said, and have met publicly for three debates, have answered debate questions via Twitter and met with The News last night for final questions.
In the past few years I’ve written to the News fairly often, but this is perhaps most important letter I’ll ever write, as it pertains to events that will affect you far beyond my remaining year at Northeastern.
I am writing not as a junior, an off-campus student, an SGA executive board member, or as a fraternity man, but as a student representative who has endured storm and strife to make Northeastern better place. I am writing in support of the presidential candidacy of Vice President for Academic Affairs Amanda Sabia.
