Entry of the week: Tuesday, Nov. 26, 9:06 a.m.
A staff member reported an unknown person sent fraudulent purchase orders worth several thousand dollars to companies all around the country impersonating him and using Northeastern’s financial information with a ship-to address in Billerica. The NUPD special services unit is investigating in coordination with Billerica police and the FBI.
Tuesday, Nov. 19
11:31 a.m.
A student reported being approached by a man and woman on Nov. 17 inside the student center. The couple claimed they were conducting research on knowledge of biblical figures, then began “preaching” to her and asking personal questions. Eventually they left the student alone, and went on to ask other people in the area about the same topic.
3:01 p.m.
A student reported his unattended Apple laptop was stolen from room 104 of the YMCA.
3:18 p.m.
A student reported that on Friday, Nov. 15, his unattended iPhone, iPad and MacBook Air were stolen from room 230 Dodge Hall.
Wednesday, Nov. 20
6:08 p.m.
A student reported his silver Gary Fisher mountain bike, valued at $500, was taken from the front of 10 Coventry St. sometime on Nov. 10. The bike was secured to a sign post with a cable lock.
7:06 p.m.
An officer observed a man on Tremont Street pass alcohol to a pair of girls who appeared to be underage. All three parties were identified as students, the females being underage. Three bottles of wine were confiscated, and the male student will be summonsed to Roxbury Court for procuring alcohol for minors. All three students will be referred to the Office of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution (OSCCR).
Thursday, Nov. 21
6 a.m.
An officer found a college-aged male sleeping in front of a room in White Hall. The student appeared to be intoxicated, but said he did not need medical attention. He stated he was drinking at a party in Mission Hill, and his Husky Card would not open his room.
Friday, Nov. 22
11:01 p.m.
A Resident Assistant (RA) in International Village (IV) reported an intoxicated female in the common area of the fourth floor. The student was found to be breathing, but not conscious. Boston Emergency Medical Services (EMS) transported the student to the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
11:42 p.m.
A student reported her roommate was intoxicated and in need of medical attention. Officers reported the student was conscious but not alert. Boston EMS evaluated the student, who was of legal drinking age, and determined the student did not need to go to the hospital.
Saturday, Nov. 23
1:47 a.m.
Wentworth Institute of Technology police reported a robbery on Vancouver Street. No weapon was shown. The suspect was last seen heading down Ruggles Street. Officers spoke to two Northeastern students who were robbed. The students were then transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center for minor injuries. The third victim was a Wentworth student, and the fourth was another Northeastern student. The fourth was later located at IV, and declined medical attention. Officers stopped a suspect fitting the description at 155 Cabot St. The suspect was found to have cash and credit cards belonging to one of the Northeastern student victims. The suspect was positively identified by several of the victims, and was taken into custody for several counts of unarmed robbery and assault and battery.
2:23 p.m.
A student reported a tree branch fell onto a vehicle parked in the North Lot. Officers reported damage to the roof, windshield and side of the vehicle.
3:47 p.m.
A resident of 337 Huntington Ave. reported a fire extinguisher discharged on the third floor of the building. Northeastern public safety division (NUPD) returned the empty extinguisher to headquarters, and a work order was issued for a cleaning crew for the mess.
4:50 p.m.
A student reported her wallet was stolen from Qdoba at 4:30 p.m. while she had dinner.
6:25 p.m.
A student reported his unattended cellphone was stolen from the basketball court in the Marino Center at 12:30 p.m.
Sunday, Nov. 24
1:27 a.m.
A Resident Director (RD) in Light Hall reported a female vomiting outside one of the rooms. Officers spoke to an underage student who was conscious but not fully alert, and a second student who was also intoxicated. Boston EMS determined the students did not need medical attention.
2:06 a.m.
An RA in Speare Hall reported an intoxicated female vomiting in the restroom of the second floor. Officers spoke to an underage student who was conscious and semi-alert. The student had been drinking in Mission Hill. Boston EMS transported the student to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
Monday, Nov. 25
12:39 a.m.
A student reported he was approached by a couple while walking towards his residence at Stetson West. The couple asked for money, and when he refused, they followed him into Stetson West threatening to harm him. They did not show any weapons or hurt him, and were last seen headed down Hemenway Street towards Westland Avenue. Officers stopped the pair, and issued trespassing warnings.
12:13 p.m.
An RD in West Village G reported a student had stated that around 1:30 a.m., there was a green box sitting outside her dorm room that had “feminist box, open” written on the outside. The student stated that there was vulgarity written on the inside of the box.
2:39 p.m.
While conducting an inventory of a found wallet, two different Connecticut driver’s licenses were found belonging to the same student, with different dates of birth.
6:35 p.m.
An RD in Smith Hall reported his friend, an 18-year-old student, was intoxicated and could not stand on his own. An officer who responded to the scene reported that the student was conscious but unable to ambulate. The student was transported by Boston EMS to the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
Tuesday, Nov. 26
8:09 a.m.
A student in West Village G reported three cookie boxes covered with vulgar language had been taped to her door. The incident is under investigation.
10:06 a.m.
A student reported that between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m., his blue 26 inch Road Master Granite Peak bike was stolen from the bike racks in front of Snell Library. His bike’s cable lock was cut and was lying in the spot where his bike was.
4:17 p.m.
The manager of Boloco reported that a college-aged male gave him a counterfeit $20 bill; he found out the $20 bill was counterfeit by swabbing the bill with a counterfeit detection pen. Wollaston’s Market and Qdoba also reported similar incidents in the past. NUPD’s special services unit will investigate the matter with the US Secret Service.
8:36 p.m.
Boston police (BPD) received reports of shots fired near 84 Dewitt Drive and reported officers were chasing three armed males. NUPD and BPD responded and the suspects were captured near Madison Park. A report was filed and BPD made arrests.
9:05 p.m.
An RD from Stetson East reported to an officer multiple cases. First, a stall door in the third floor men’s room was damaged before 11 p.m. on Nov. 2. On Nov. 3, between 12 – 8 a.m., all the exit signs on the third floor north side of Stetson East were damaged. The RD also reported that room numbers and stairwell signs were either removed or damaged throughout the building, and a work order has been notified to repair the signs.
Wednesday, Nov. 27
8:08 a.m.
A staff member walked into NUPD headquarters and stated that while driving a university-owned vehicle near Tremont Street and Columbus Avenue at 7:30 a.m. that same day, another vehicle hit him from behind. No damage or injuries were reported.
Saturday, Nov. 30
1:11 a.m.
An RA in Rubenstein Hall reported the odor of marijuana coming from a students room. NUPD officers spoke with an occupant of the room who claimed that a friend had smoked marijuana earlier in the night. No drugs or evidence were found.
6:10 p.m.
A student reported his black bicycle, valued at $500, was stolen from a bike rack in Snell Quad between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m.
Sunday, Dec. 1
2:26 a.m.
An NUPD officer stopped two students in an alleyway near St. Stephen St. and confiscated a marijuana cigarette. The students were sent on their way and referred to OSCCR.
