Entry of the week: Thursday, Jan. 23, 5:31 p.m.
A staff member called to report a purple backpack containing a Windows laptop, a wallet and other personal items was stolen from the Sacred Space in Ell Hall. The victim stated she was meditating for about 15 minutes and when she was finished, the bag was gone. The bag was about 15 feet from her, and she did not see or hear anyone else in the area.
Monday, Jan. 20
9 a.m.
A student came to Northeastern Public Safety Division (NUPD) headquarters to retrieve her wallet, and discovered $40 to $60 to be missing. She also reported phone calls and text messages that were sent from the unknown party who had turned in the wallet.
9:39 a.m.
A staff member reported the glass of the newly installed front door to Columbus Place had been shattered.
2:35 p.m.
An officer stopped two people for loitering in the alley behind Symphony Road. The two were initially uncooperative when stopped, but were sent on their way without incident.
3:10 p.m.
A student reported her wallet was stolen from Qdoba the previous evening.
Tuesday, Jan. 21
2:02 a.m.
Boston Police Department (BPD) reported an armed robbery at the Gulf gas station on Tremont Street. The suspect was a male wearing a puffy jacket who brandished a knife. Officers later determined the robbery occurred at Tremont and Hammond streets. The victim’s wallet was stolen.
12:17 p.m.
A Resident Director (RD) reported a student was currently in the RD’s office in Kennedy Hall and was saying she had issues with her roommate. The student told the RD that her roommate had a knife in the room in a desk drawer, and that the roommate had said in the past that she had it because of the student’s boyfriend. Officers spoke to both roommates and confiscated the knife. The RD is making arrangements for room changes.
8:28 p.m.
A student reported someone stole her wallet from her purse in Qdoba between 7:15 p.m. and 7:58 p.m.
10:58 p.m.
The fire alarm in West Village F was set off. Officers reported the sprinklers were activated, and there were several inches of water in one of the rooms, which leaked down to the lower floors. The room had sustained fire damage, and the sixth floor was isolated. Temporary housing was arranged for all students affected.
Wednesday, Jan. 22
10:08 a.m.
A staff member reported his vehicle was broken into between 9:30 a.m. and 9:40 a.m. that morning while parked in the Gainsborough Garage. The victim’s black iPhone was stolen from the passenger seat of the vehicle, and the window was smashed.
10:59 a.m.
A manager at Wollaston’s in the Marino Center reported a shoplifting incident from the previous day. A possible suspect was identified through their Husky ID.
5:35 p.m.
A student reported his unattended laptop was stolen from the Curry Student Center around noon.
10:17 p.m.
An Allied Security officer reported Kenneth Smith, a homeless man was at the vending machine in Ruggles station. When the machine didn’t eject the item he had bought, Smith started banging on the machine. Smith displayed a knife and stated he had a firearm that he did not display. The knife was confiscated, but no firearm was found, and Smith was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct and malicious destruction.
Thursday, Jan. 23
3:07 a.m.
A student reported he was approached by a man on the second floor of Snell Library, who asked if there were any guards or police in the area. Officers spoke to the man, who was sent on his way with a trespass warning.
4:07 p.m.
A manager at Qdoba reported a man was being disorderly in the restroom. Officers spoke to the man and requested Emergency Medical Services (EMS) to evaluate him. The man claimed to have swallowed a “twenty bag” of heroin. Officers confiscated a small amount of heroin, and issued a criminal summons for possession. He was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
8:45 p.m.
A Resident Assistant in Stetson West reported she had found marijuana on the floor by the proctor station. The marijuana was brought to headquarters for destruction.
Friday, Jan. 24
1:59 p.m.
An officer reported that a member of Suffolk Construction Company informed him that there are copper fittings about 18 inches out of the wall on the fourth, fifth and sixth floors, and it appeared someone was snapping them off and leaving with them.
4:15 p.m.
A manager at the Northeastern Bookstore reported a college aged male stole some items about 20 minutes prior to the report.
8:41 p.m.
NUPD overheard the Boston Police Department looking for three males who had robbed a man near the Fens then ran towards Ruggles Street. Two of the males had guns. NUPD was later informed the robbery took place on the footbridge near the war memorial in the Fens. The victim was a Northeastern student, and the robbers stole a cell phone, a laptop, a debit card and $40 cash. One of the men pointed a gun at the victim’s chest while a second subject went through the victim’s pockets.
Saturday, Jan. 25
2:58 p.m.
Transit Police alerted NUPD of a fight in progress on an MBTA bus at the intersection of Massachusetts Avenue and Tremont Street. One of the people involved allegedly had a knife. One person was taken into custody.
Saturday, Jan. 25
7:23 p.m.
Police were notified of a drunk student who could not stand on her own. An officer requested EMS for the student, and she was transported to Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.
11:11 p.m.
An RA reported the scent of marijuana coming from a room in Speare Hall. Officers confiscated less than an ounce of marijuana and a pipe.
Sunday, Jan. 26
1:43 a.m.
Officers received a report of a drunk student vomiting in the fourth floor women’s restroom. Officers determined the woman did not need medical attention.
