If classes stopped you from enjoying all the winter festivities, come to Jamaica Plain for a massive snowball fight. The Hyde Square Task Force, along with their youth leaders and Latin Quarter community members, will team up for an all-out snow war. If you live in Jamaica Plain, this is a great way to meet neighbors and talk to some community leaders about how to get involved. The event will go on even if there is no snow, in which case soft-foam dodge balls will be used in place. Thursday, Feb. 11
Bowling is the definition of a classic first date, so treat your bae to a night out before Valentine’s Day in nearby Kings Back Bay. In addition to bowling, enjoy amazing food platters, beer and cocktails for those over 21 and some nice tunes to set the mood. Food specials include grilled filet, dessert pizza, crab cakes and several other mouthwatering creations by executive chef Andre Bautista. Couples will also be happy to know that they can enjoy dinner at the comfort of Kings lounge and get priority on the bowling waitlist when they’re done. Friday, Feb. 12
If you like dancing but hate all the noise, The Greatest Bar is having a quiet clubbing party. The event, also known as a silent disco, will outfit club-goers with a pair of special wireless headphones that allow you to switch between the three disk jockeys (DJs) with just a flip of a switch. You can even see which DJ other people are listening to by the color of the LED on the headphones. There is also an option to lower volume when you feel like sitting down and talking. The names of the 3 DJs will be a surprise, but each will perform genres from Top 40 to electronic dance music (EDM) to the 90s. Sunday, Feb. 14
There have been several iterations of “Romeo and Juliet,” but a burlesque version may be the most interesting of them all. New England’s leading burlesque troupe, the Boston BeauTease, will be presenting this classic story of love and tragedy in the Davis Square Theatre. The troupe emphasizes that this is definitely not the “Romeo and Juliet” we all read in high school, with scenes that will never leave you bored and even make you consider picking up that old copy of “Othello” lying around. The play will feature the musical talents of Alissa Coates, as well as comedy, magic and as expected from burlesque a lot of striptease. 225 Elm St., Somerville; 9 –10:30 p.m.; $20.
Monday, Feb. 15
New England is home to proud boating culture which can be seen first-hand at the New England Boat Show (NEBS). Held at the Boston Convention and Exhibition Center, the NEBS has grown into the largest show in the northeast. Three halls will be available to showcase all the vehicles, which include the latest models for cruising, wakeboarding and fishing boats. For those who prefer classic sailboats, the show will also feature skiffs and dinghy racers. In addition to boats, there will be over 250 exhibitions showcasing the newest marine accessories. 415 Summer St.; 10:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.; $13.
Tuesday, Feb. 16
Fans of “Pitch Perfect” will be sure to enjoy producer Deke Sharon’s newest live-concert event, “Vocalosity.” With 12 classically trained voices, this won’t be your average a cappella show. “Vocalosity” will cover any and every genre, from obscure 10th century Gregorian chants, to witty barbershop quartet style doo-wop and contemporary artists like Bruno Mars. The show will also feature dance performances choreographed by Sean Curran, an original cast member to play “STOMP!”. “Vocalosity” will change your view of the limits of the human voice. 265 Tremont St.; 7:30– 10:00 p.m.; $29.50 – 45.50.
Wednesday, Feb. 17
In “That 1770’s Show!” The Hasty Pudding Institute will take on an alternate version of the Boston Tea Party. The play centers around the daughter of Gov. Bucky Hamplace, that her father raise taxes on colonists. However, the colonists, with the help of the governor’s wife and a fur-trapper, plot to kidnap the governor’s daughter and send her back to England. The play takes a turn for the weird when the colonists encounter sailor Ahab, who has followed a giant fish into the Boston harbor. 10-12 Holyoke St, Cambridge; 8:00 p.m.; $30-40.
