Northeastern men’s cross country walked away victorious after placing first in the 2025 IC4A/Eastern College Athletic Conference championships Oct. 17 in New York, hosted by Fordham University. The women’s cross country team also competed at the championships, racing in the 6k.
The men’s team clinched 58 points in the 8k with an average time of 24:42. Senior Patrick Cantlon led the pack, coming in first with a time of 24:23.5, the runner’s personal best. Cantlon has been a pillar for the Huskies as of late after placing fourth at the Maribel Sanchez Invitational Sept. 20.
Along with Cantlon, sophomore Nico Boyle finished in fifth place with a time of 24:32.1, a whopping 23 seconds faster than his previous personal best.
Boyle has had an incredibly strong season, placing third and seventh at the Huskies’ first and second meets, respectively.
Up next for the Huskies was freshman Dawson French, who placed 13th with a time of 24:45.3. French has been a standout performer for the Huskies in his debut season, placing right behind Cantlon in third at the Maribel Sanchez Invitational.
The women’s team tallied 195 points, coming in sixth place out of 25 teams. Leading the way was junior Keira Gamily, who placed 23rd with a time of 21:58.3. Next for the Huskies was sophomore Emily Wickard in 33rd place with a time of 22:09.9.
The Huskies’ success at the IC4A/ECAC championships, while impressive, comes as no surprise. The men’s cross country team has placed first in every meet it has attended so far this season, and it doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon.
Both the men’s and women’s cross country teams will be competing next at the CAA championships Oct. 31 in West Long Branch, N.J..
