Senior forward Anthony Messuri signed with the Carolina Hurricanes’s ECHL affiliate, the Greensboro Argyles, the team announced Dec. 31.
“I’m really excited,” Messuri said in a statement to the team. “Coach Burt did a great job welcoming me, and I just can’t wait to take the ice. It seems like a really good group of guys, and I’m super pumped to get going with the team.”
The signing comes a day after the ECHL and its players union reached a five-year deal that improves player compensation and health and safety measures. The union had been on a [how long strike] while it was attempting to reach “a new collective bargaining agreement,” according to The New York Times.
Messuri played for three and a half years with the Huskies, graduating this December.
In the first half of this season, the forward played in five games. Last year, he played in 15 games, earning one assist against Bentley University Dec. 1, 2024.
In his freshman and sophomore campaigns, he played six games combined.
“The Massachusetts native adds depth and youth to Greensboro’s forward group as the team continues to build in its inaugural season,” said the team in its announcement.
The Huskies will return from their winter hiatus Friday, Jan. 2 at 7 p.m. against Army West Point.
