Spring Playlist: Top 10 must-listen to songs

Although the temperature of the weather hasn’t changed all that much, spring has finally arrived. And pretty soon, summer will be just around the corner. Sooner than you think, you’ll be hitting the beach, firing up the grill, attending summer concerts and getting a workout by just generally spending most of your days out and about.

With spring hopefully just around the corner, it’s about time for this long, harsh winter to come to an end. The campus has gotten a taste of warmer weather this week, and shorts and shirts have already started to make an appearance.

A girl and boy can’t walk down the street together without someone thinking the word “couple.” Though of course in this modern age, it’s a little better since we’re now able to hang out with friends of the opposite sex without having to worry about being stoned for secretly copulating before marriage. It’s nice to have guy friends, to be one of the “bros,” but let’s pop that fantasy bubble and face the truth: are they truly just “friends?”

Fiesta Shows will present the Revere Spring Carnival, as “New England’s Largest and Finest Traveling Amusement Park,” according to its website. With 32 different rides, all types of games and carnival food like funnel cakes and hot dogs, the carnival has something for everyone. And although Revere isn’t exactly close to campus, it can be reached easily by car, or by way of the Orange Line to Malden before transferring to bus. Students all over Boston were dealt a swift blow last week when it was announced that the current issue of the beloved alternative newspaper, the Boston Phoenix, would be the last.

Colleges Against Cancer and Northeastern are working together once again to sponsor this year’s Relay For Life. The 12-hour walk aims to raise money, both from teams who sign up for the event and from individual donors, to donate to finding a cure for cancer with the American Cancer Society.

Full house concert in afterHOURS, indie bands captivated NU audience

A free concert Saturday night at afterHOURS allowed a sold out house of students to escape the St. Paddy’s Day partying for a few hours. Indie groups The Antlers and Lady Lamb the Beekeeper got fans swaying and tapping their feet along with the music.

Kid Cudi to headline Springfest concert

Rapper Kid Cudi will headline the university’s Springfest concert this year, the Council for University Programs (CUP) announced Wednesday night on Twitter. Kentucky alternative rock band Cage the Elephant will also perform at the Springfest concert. CUP said an additional “special guest,” who will be announced at a later date, will perform as well.

I had never even thought about grinding before I came to America and was horrified, yet slightly intrigued, by the thought of it. The thought of a boy picking me to “grind” with was an ego boost (I say this with my head held in my hands because I truly am embarrassed about my former lack of self-esteem). At first, I didn’t understand what I had to do; I stood there in the middle of the dance floor like a dorky middle schooler at a dance, unaware of how to trap these boys. But now, I’ve learned to master the art.
