The Huskies played three matches this weekend, losing to both Fairfield University and Sacred Heart University before fighting off a tournament sweep by beating the New Jersey Institute of Technology.
The Northeastern women’s volleyball team fell to the University of New Hampshire by a score of 3-2 Tuesday night, bringing their record to 4-3 on the season.
The Huskies got off to an 8-0 start for the CAA season but struggled the second time around in conference, only managing two wins in the final eight matches. Friday’s loss against James Madison dashed any hopes of securing a bye for the tournament.
The Northeastern women built a 13-5 lead and didn’t look back, solidifying the set 25-18 to win the match. Looking toward the remainder of conference play, the road is traditionally tougher as the Huskies meet their previous opponents the second time around.
Confidence came in handy over the weekend as the Northeastern women battled to five sets against James Madison and Elon. But it also showed through their sure-handed defeat of William & Mary on Thursday.
Underdown was named CAA Player of the week for the second time in a row Monday, after totaling 13 kills against Delaware and 24 against Towson. The California native served over eight aces and compiled 16 digs over the course of the two matches as well.
