Spread thin and missing freshman forward and 2013 Beanpot MVP Kevin Roy, the men's hockey team fell to Providence College twice in a weekend home-and-home series. The Friars outscored the Huskies drastically in a 6-2 victory Friday at Scheinder Arena and just squeaked by with a 3-2 victory Saturday night at Matthews Arena.

Overtime road win puts men’s hockey back on track

A snow storm, a Tuesday night road game, some melted ice and a game delay might not seem like factors that would help a team pull out a much needed win. But when the men’s hockey team traveled to the University of Massachusetts for a rescheduled match stemming from winter storm Nemo and waited through a 30-minute delay, the Huskies left Amherst with two crucial Hockey East points and a 5-4 overtime victory.

In what was perhaps the most important series of the season, the Huskies had exactly what they have been missing in recent weeks: good defense and solid goaltending. They limited the University of Vermont Catamounts to just five goals in two games, but the Huskies left the weekend with no points because they only scored one goal each night.
