Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper are two very obvious, very good reasons to see “The Place Beyond the Pines.” But beyond the eye candy factor, there are many more legitimate reasons to see the movie, which is being released in theaters around Boston on Friday.
Each of the 128 teams had one week to create a film of five minutes or less and on March 28, the awards for best comedy, best drama and best picture were presented to the three student filmmakers from each team who will move on to the finals in Hollywood, where they will have the chance to attend industry workshops, meetings and parties, and have a chance to win prizes, including a sum of $30,000.
Every male and female, lackadaisical or fashion forward, has his or her own distinct style. Whether one’s fashion sense is based on the “I don’t care what I look like” mentality or the “in this week, out next week” one, every person consciously decides his or her look each day. But for those looking for a little inspiration and guidance from the proudly dressed bunch, StyleUp has come to the rescue.
I dyed the underside of my hair last Sunday. I have dark brown hair, let the record show, pretty long but not quite waist-length. I’ve had bright colors in it before – pink, purple and blue before a school trip to Peru, indigo during a hippie phase, cerulean streaks that came out more seaweed than striking.
The Big Apple Circus is in Boston until May 12 offers a great end-of-the-semester opportunity for students to combat the stress of impending finals. From prancing horses to clowns to acrobats to contortionists, it has a little bit of everything. The circus tent holds up to 1,700 people, but none will sit further than 50 feet away from the ring. When an enormous rabbit with a deep distorted voice writes this in invisible ink on a white graphic T-shirt, one would assume the rest of that time will be intriguing to say the least.
Although the temperature of the weather hasn’t changed all that much, spring has finally arrived. And pretty soon, summer will be just around the corner. Sooner than you think, you’ll be hitting the beach, firing up the grill, attending summer concerts and getting a workout by just generally spending most of your days out and about.
With spring hopefully just around the corner, it’s about time for this long, harsh winter to come to an end. The campus has gotten a taste of warmer weather this week, and shorts and shirts have already started to make an appearance.
A girl and boy can’t walk down the street together without someone thinking the word “couple.” Though of course in this modern age, it’s a little better since we’re now able to hang out with friends of the opposite sex without having to worry about being stoned for secretly copulating before marriage. It’s nice to have guy friends, to be one of the “bros,” but let’s pop that fantasy bubble and face the truth: are they truly just “friends?”
Fiesta Shows will present the Revere Spring Carnival, as “New England’s Largest and Finest Traveling Amusement Park,” according to its website. With 32 different rides, all types of games and carnival food like funnel cakes and hot dogs, the carnival has something for everyone. And although Revere isn’t exactly close to campus, it can be reached easily by car, or by way of the Orange Line to Malden before transferring to bus.
