The Northeastern men’s and women’s track and field teams captured three first-place finishes at the Bruce Lehane Scarlet and White Invitational hosted by Boston University Jan. 24.
Junior Savannah Blair secured a first-place finish in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.5 seconds. Freshman Anaya Jones and junior Victoria Knight followed in fifth at 7.69 seconds and sixth at 7.71 seconds, respectively.
Blair also ran the 200-meter in 23.98 seconds to add a second-place finish for the Huskies
Junior Keira Gamily also placed second for the Huskies in the 5K with a time of 17:10.24. The distance medley relay team, consisting of graduate student Stephanie Kriss, junior Brittani Westberry, freshman Genna Cowan and junior Natasha Sortland, also secured a second-place finish for Northeastern with a time of 12:03.22.
The Huskies snagged another first-place finish courtesy of senior Leila Curtis, who threw 14.89 meters in the shot put. The next Husky in the event was junior Catherine Sargent, who threw 12.93 meters to take seventh place.
On the men’s side, graduate student Kyle Sarney took the lone first-place victory for the Huskies at the meet. Sarney crossed the finish line of the mile with a time of 4:00.39.
Aside from Sarney, the Huskies continued their success in the 60-meter dash, where freshman Raymond Felton III placed third with a time of 6.83 and sophomore Taeshawn Berry took fifth, clocking in at 6.92.
In the 200-meter, Felton III clocked a time of 21.72 to take third, while freshman Daeshaun Cole followed closely at 21.73 to take fourth.
The men’s team struggled slightly in the field; freshman Logan Alfandari had the highest finish in third place, throwing 17.26 meters in the weight throw.
The Northeastern men’s track and field team will compete Jan. 30 at the Harvard Invitational and the next day at the John Thomas Terrier Classic at Boston University. The women’s team will compete Jan. 30 at the John Thomas Terrier Classic and Jan. 31 at the Harvard Invitational.
