Winter blues? Stay inside.

When the thermometer hits -2 degrees with a wind chill of -20 degrees, when the snow blows into Boston day after day, or when the rain turns the snow to gigantic puddles, most people want to hide inside. And who can blame them? But staying indoors can only offer so many things to do. Here are some ideas to stay warm, have fun and beat those winter blues without heading outside.

YouTuber Bo Burnham is coming to Boston. Although he's still a teenager, this comedian is a favorite of many. In 2006, he began writing and posting songs online, such as “I’m Bo yo,” which became extremely popular. Soon after, he started playing live shows at colleges, clubs and theatres. He is currently the youngest person to have recorded a Comedy Central special. And now, Burnham will be on stage at the Wilbur Theatre right here in the Bean as part of his 2011 tour. 246 Tremont St.; 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. show times; $22.50; 800-745-3000.

Exhibition Review: MIT shows off 150 years of innovation

Musical stairs feel like they would lead to Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory, or maybe Pee-wee’s Playhouse. But these musical stairs lead to the MIT 150 Exhibition at the university’s museum. The Massachusetts Institute of Technology is celebrating 150 years at the MIT Museum with an exhibit in Thomas Peterson ’57 Gallery. Both the exhibition and the gallery opened to the public Jan. 8.

Oh, the places we go: Cambridge, UK

If I were to mention Cambridge to someone from Massachusetts, I would not be surprised if the initial images that came into their mind would be of the Charles River, Harvard University and a few cobblestone and brick walkways. But what I am referencing is Cambridge, England, parent city to its considerably younger namesake. The British enclave is filled with narrow cobblestone streets and is home to the 801-year-old prestigious university.

MEISA announces spring semester plans

Crammed into the meeting space at 442 Curry Student Center (CSC), more than 60 students introduced themselves and named their favorite album or concert of 2010. Seats were hard to come by as the Music and Entertainment Industry Student Association (MEISA) kicked off the spring 2011 semester with its first meeting Jan. 20, where the e-board members discussed upcoming programs and events planned for the next four months.

Just as I thought the media and entertainment industry couldn’t promote sex anymore than it already does, there are singers like Katy Perry and Enrique Iglesias coming out with a new hit song that revolves around inappropriate sexual references. The way that sex is promoted in songs, and in the entertainment industry in general, seems to be getting more vulgar every year.
