The Huskies’ new class of swimmers and divers lived up to their hype and performed well. First-years Klara Juliusson and Sabrina Chan each made meaningful contributions to the Huskies’ winning cause, with breaststroker Juliusson winning five events and Chan finishing second in three meter diving with a score of 247.05.
Decked out in everything from face paint to trash bags, the team tapped into their less serious side during the meet as they encouraged their teammates from the pool deck while awaiting their event.
The team raised money for cancer research at the Rhode Island Open Water Swim put on by the non-profit Swim Across America on Sept. 9. They raised over $11,000 in support of gynecological and breast cancer research at Women and Infants Hospital in Rhode Island,
In Cambridge, sophomore Carly Schnabel bested the school record for the 1000-yard freestyle by almost 12 seconds, touching the pad with a time of 10:03.95. The previous record was set in 2014 by then-senior Colleen McCornack, and Schnabel dropped approximately 17 seconds since competing in the same event earlier in the season.

The Northeastern University (NU) swimming and diving team hit the lanes for their first official meet of the season and beat Boston University with a score of 165-135 on Saturday, Oct. 1.
The Northeastern University (NU) swimming and diving team completed the 2015-16 campaign with a combined fifth-place finish at the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) swimming and diving championships in Virginia, racking up 422.5 points at the University of Richmond.
Although it didn’t match last year’s first-place finish at the Frank Elm Invitational, the Northeastern University swimming and diving team took home a top-three finish in this year’s meet in Piscataway, N.J.
The Huskies registered a number of season and career bests in Saturday’s swim meet, beating the University of New Hampshire (UNH) for the second year in a row. The Northeastern women won by a score of 155-145 in the road meet.
